I haven't looked at this forum in a few days. Big congrats Dance&Smile and SueSmith. It makes it all worth while when you get the good news you wanted.

Please may I ask about this £75 fee for the Urdang Funding? So, if I have it correct the fee is for potential Degree students going to the Recall hoping to get on the Degree course and having the extra £3000 waivered? My DD is in this situation. But we don't know if she'll even get on the Degree course yet? In which case the £75 will have been a waste of money. Is anyone else in this position and have I understood it correctly? Thanks so much

Re the Urdang Bursary fee here is the extract from the email my DD had....

'The tuition fee for the Degree programme will be £12,000.00 per annum and may be subject to an increase each academic year. At your final audition you will be considered for a bursary of £3,000.00 per annum against your tuition fees.'

There was no mention of having to pay £75 until you go on line. Is the £75 definitely for this purpose and not for let say a bursary to help Diploma Students funding as they don't have student loans etc? I'm a bit confused :?

No there isn't. It seems they slip that information in after you've been successful at your first audition. As I'm sure a lot of people do, I deliberately researched the finances of different places before my DD auditioned so as not to be in a situation where by if she was to be offered a place she couldn't accept it. It would be heartbreaking to get in and not be able accept it for financial reasons.
To be honest though it's still one of the most viable options we've got so I mustn't complain too much

I think it's dishonest to spring it on people after auditions; I can't find it in writing anywhere

But I would apologise for that if anyone can find it on the website or in the brochure

I can't find it anywhere either Katymac.

We are in the same position Bop2thetop. The way I interpreted it was that the diploma DaDA funding audition is free, the degree audition is free, but the bursary audition is £75, even though it is all one recall audition, but i might be wrong. We paid the £75 but as you say, there is no guarantee of a degree place so the £75 funding fee might be a waste... unless the bursary isn't only for degree students, maybe it is for diploma students who are not eligible for DaDA?? Clear as mud.

If I'd known the fees were £12,000 DD wouldn't have applied cos Urdang would've ended up on my list of 'not viable' schools, so maybe it is a good thing I didn't know as now at least there seems to be a possibility of it being affordable... Which makes me wonder whether some of the others such as Arts and Mountview offer bursaries to top-up from the £6,000 student loan... sigh.

Dd1 got a 'no' from GSA. She auditioned for the Pre Performers Course (Level 4 Diploma in Acting/Musical Theatre) today with The Big Act. Results will be emailed out on Monday so more waiting.
Dd2 has Rambert audition on Tuesday. Nearly all over :)
Good luck to those still waiting and congratulations to those with good news and commiserations to those with 'no's.

Thanks Katymac and Carriecrafts. We should have known about it from the start. It's a bit annoying really. But having said that it's still one of our best options so I think I will just pay the £75 and see how far she can get. You cant do anything else really can you?

Carriecrafts has your DD had her Recall yet and how did she get on? My DD's recall is 27th March.

Jaylou it's a hard process isn't it? Must be even harder to have 2 going through it at the same time. Good luck and I hope they get what they want. :D

My DD's recall is Sunday 30th. She was offered 27th initially but is performing in a cabaret on 27th, 28th and 29th so we're going to have to do the 3hr drive to London after her show on the Saturday night, which isn't ideal preparation for the audition but can't be helped.

I think you said your DD has Bird this week, if so good luck :) and let me know what she thinks of the audition day.

Carriecrafts this sounds like the kind of thing we have to do. They're so busy aren't they? Hopefully she will sleep in the car.

Yes my DD has her Bird audition on Thursday. She really liked Urdang, it will interesting to see how Bird compares and whether they like her too. We will see. I will keep you posted. Thank you! :)

Dd1 has been offered a place on the one year and two year pre-professional MT course with The Big Act - just have to wait to see if she has funding!
Dd2 had Rambert audition yesterday but wasn't asked to do a solo, physio or interview (they asked 6 girls) but the school insisted that it didn't mean that you wouldn't be offered a place - except no-one on the ballet co forum seems to have heard of anyone not asked to do the above things and got a place so expecting another 'no'.
Next audition for dd2 in April (local dance college).

Well done JayLou62 to your DD1. And I hope your DD2 gets sorted soon. I don't know how you manage with 2 doing it at the same time!!

My DD's in her Bird audition right now! Eek. She's text to say the dance audition was really really hard. A real test of stamina.

My DD auditioned at Cambridge Bodyworks this week and now an offer for 3 year diploma!!!!! So happy and proud of her. I know she's only 1/2 way there as there is a funding audition yet to go, but at least she has been given a much needed confidence boost :)
