Bop2thetop

Such lovely news for you and your dd. I hope you don't mind if I ask a couple of questions as my dd will be going through the process next year and GSA is her dream too.

Is the offer conditional on A level results at all? I know the website says 3 Bs?
Is your dd a very good/experienced dancer as well as singer/actor. I think the answer will be yes!
When did your dd first audition? Is there any perceived advantage to auditioning early/late, sending UCAS application in early/late?

Please don't rush to answer, I hope you and dd are too busy celebrating to be reading NAPM.

Thanks everyone,

Hi Soda,

I think they are looking for a really strong triple threat to be honest. The first audition is a singing one only which I think indicates that they may be think that singing is the most important. At the recall they want to see everything. A dance work shop, acting monologues and musical theatre songs. DD said most people at the Recall looked like they had had dance training. My DD is primarily a dancer really and the singing started because she did song and dance solos in dance festivals. The acting experience has come in more recent years with being lucky enough to get lead parts in school and college musicals.

I'm absolutely amazed with the competition as it is that DD got in. They literally have thousands apply from what I've been told. For anyone wanting to audition (and I'm not an expert) my advice would be to work on your weakest discipline but also keep the others going as much as you can. Yes it is a conditional offer. She needs to get 3 B's or more in her A levels. I think it's going up to ABB next year though. DD's 1st audition was on 7th March and then 2 weeks approx later she had her recall. I think there are 3 recalls after my DD's one. I must admit I was a bit concerned they would be running out of places by now. If DD had had to do the auditions again I think we would have applied as soon as we could. It is an amazing school and I feel very blessed that she has got in. Still can't quite believe it. Hope I've helped a little bit. Good luck.
