Congratulations to your daughter, she has done well to be offered a place as there were not many places being offered. My daughter was there on Sunday too but alas not heard anything so I guess she didn't get in. She also said she had a bad audition as she wasn't asked to do the monologue which was disappointing as she'd been working on it only had to sing one song. Good luck with whatever she/you decide.

Hi Kathy,
Thanks for your response. I'm sorry your daughter hasn't heard anything yet. My daughter said the same thing. She didn't get to do the monologue she was working on and she found Lyndsey (the principle) to be quite rude. She sat with her legs up on the table barely looking at my daughter. Snapped at her about the way she was singing and didn't give her any feedback at all. Not even a thank you or well done! My daughter was actually in tears saying she thinks that Lyndsey didn't like her at all. She made her feel really small :(. That's why I was so surprised when I received the email! I have received an email today asking for payment of £350 and I just don't know what to do. My daughter would like to go but I am wary to be honest! I was hoping to hear from people whose children attend as I can't find out much at all about WEM online. I think I will have to follow my gut feeling and not send her. Xx

Guts are good value...if DD wasn't comfortable it may not be the right place for her right now.

She could always put it off for a year and try again next summer. Sometimes it's timing.

Have you seen the Spirit YPC callout for Elite Singers? Just wondering whether that might be a good environment for her and provide a chance to work with uber-talented youngsters?

Hi
My daughter goes to WEM and absolutely loves it. The kids are very very friendly. Lyndsey is usually lovely, maybe she was having a bad day!
They are usually very good at giving feedback but can sometimes be a bit critical, although i suppose that is how they learn!

Hi Lynne, thanks for your response. It is reassuring to hear that your daughter attends WEM and loves it :). My daughter is very friendly so I'm sure she would fit in there. I guess Lindsay could have been having a bad day..they were busy and my daughter was one of the last to audition. It's just a shame she can't go for a trial day as although she says she wants to go I am a bit worried it may not be the place for her. Xx

Hi Baffo78
Can I ask how old your daughter is? Mine is 14, and they go up to 30 , so maybe if it is not right for her at the moment, it might be in a couple of years time.
I think it really depends upon what you are looking for. They seem to take the training quite seriously and expect a lot from the kids in terms of preparing each week, to get them used to the pressures of the industry. My daughter often gets an e mail on the Thursday or Friday with a song to learn for the Sunday for example. To start with, she found this quite pressuring but now takes it in her stride.I think in some ways it is quite different from most musical theatre classes because they do take things more seriously, which is why they probably start at an older age.
Best of luck with whatever you decide to do. If you do decide to go, let us know and we will look our for your daughter!
