First Audition Sylvia Young

Post by pixie1 »

Hi Everyone, Im new on here, been reading lots of comments over the past few weeks and finally got round to registering. I hope someone may be able to give me some advice/tips. After my dd badgering us for over a year to audition for f/t theatre school we have finally agreed to let her audition for Sylvia Young, we only applied last week and have already got an audition date. We haven't even looked at the School (not sure if Im completely mad or not!) I'd really like to know what to expect at the first audition, ie: how many children attend and what sort of level are they, I keep panicking that my dd may not be as good as the other kids at the audition but then I think, so what, lets give it a go! My dd is 11, in Yr7 and at a mainstream secondary school, she's been dancing since she was 3 with a local dancing school which is fantastic, she does Ballet, tap, modern, jazz, contemporary and is grade 3/4, she does musical theatre on sat mornings and does lamda drama and achieved a merit for her grade 2 exam. If she were successful (I know we have a long way to go yet), she would also have to live with a host family, does anyone have any experience of this, ie: how many kids in a house, how far away are the houses. Considering f/t performing arts is all new to us, I would be so thankful if anyone could help. Many Thanks
