No cuts as far as I am aware. Don't think they did any interviews, just asked them a few questions during the acting session.
Re: September 2015
Hi all my DD started Bird this September so understand all your questions, they do take a long time to reply back which is a killer and a lot as we know of on the diploma do get put onto a reserve list . DD was offered two other colleges with funding but reserve for bird , so our thinking was they offer places out and then funding to ones that had been offered places ...so being on reserve would just be a fee paying place then DD was offered a place off reserve with funding

Just got back home from Bird Audition. DD loved it there and so did I, so just a waiting game I guess. Just before we left we heard a girl who was auditioning for diploma say she got offered a place and she was crying with joy it was so nice to see the pure emotion

Hi Lorry,
does your dd want degree or diploma?
My dd auditioned for degree at Bird last year in early January. It took less than 3 weeks to get her letter offering her a place, so I hope you won't have long to wait - it's agony!
She had to confirm acceptance of the place by email within a couple of weeks, I seem to remember, but she decided on a different school in the end. This seems to be quite common (hence the reserve places offered) and isn't a problem unless the schools are asking for deposits.
DD said that of the 6 auditions she did Bird was the toughest, really full on.
Fingers crossed for everyone

Hi Carriecrafts, DD wants degree, so expecting a wait. DD said out of the three she has already done that Bird has been the toughest but she loved it
Where did your DD decide to go out of interest ?

Hi Lorry,
my dd had degree offers from Bird, Urdang and Laban and diploma offer from Laine. She chose Urdang - but it took her a while to make up her mind between Bird and Urdang. She is really happy there
Good luck

Oh wow Carriecrafts, well done to your DD and glad she is happy at Urdang, my DD enjoyed her audition at Urdang but only got offered the foundation.
Do you know if Bird offers dipolma or foundation if they think auditioned is more suited to that course if they don't get into degree?
Sorry to keep asking questions

Hi Lorry,
no problem, ask away
but I don't know whether Bird offer diploma or foundation to those who don't get onto degree as my dd just got the degree offer.
They do at Urdang - if someone is unsuccessful at the funding/degree recall they automatically get a place on Diploma. DD says this isn't because those on degree are 'better', it is because they are good at all subjects. She says there are some stronger dancers on diploma than degree, but diploma students are assessed into different specialisms (dance/MT/acting/commercial) in 2nd year whereas degree student are triple-threat all the time. So it is a different course rather than higher level. DD's only grumble is that she has 1 less jazz class and less body conditioning than diploma students as she has some academic classes instead. I just tell her thats the trade off as she has the luxury of not having to get a weekend job as she has student finance to live on!
I never got the impression that Bird do this as I thought the degree and diploma at Bird were very similar in structure/content. I'm sure someone who is there would be able to tell you better than me though.

Thanks Carriecrafts, that's what I thought, re Degree/Diploma offer at Bird i think like you it's either offered /waiting list or no offer
Yes DD liked the fact that Urdang offered the choice in the second year

Re: September 2015
A friend's DD was there last week, I'll see if I can encourage her to post but in the meantime I'll tell you the snippets I heard: I understand the acting was the usual workshop type stuff, being a tree ( not literally but that kind of thing) but no monologues. For the music part they each sang their song and the dance was, I think, reasonably straightforward and enjoyable for regular dancers, should be great for your DD.
Good luck to your DD.
Everything up in the air here, DD has been applying for Unis and drama schools and just heard that she got an offer from Cambridge, which has really put the cat among the pigeons.
If she can manage to get the grades
she is thinking of trying to take an alternative route into acting (sort of like Eddie Redmayne, Emma Thompson etc) Footlights, extracurricular stuff and then maybe a post grad. She's youngish so shouldn't be too far behind in age. She has recall booked and other auditions/trains paid for, so going for those. Tricky times.
Good luck to your DD.

Re: September 2015
Hi Lorry. Yes my DD was at Chichester last week. There were only 9 at her audition. It was fairly straightforward, but her least favourite so far. They were asked to prepare a monologue but just a workshop in the end. Also a dance workshop which was similarly straightforward but no Tap as only 2 of the group had done it before. They asked to bring 2 songs of which they chose one (mainly seemed to be ballads). It finished an hour early, although my DD felt she hadn't been given as much chance as other auditions to show what she could do. She wasn't keen on the Bognor Regis campus either, but may have been put off by the hideous train journey the night before which was delayed by over an hour, and the bad weather!
They said expect to hear back in about 3 weeks. Good luck for your audition.

Re: September 2015
Thank you Totallycluelessmum well done to your DD on Cambridge it's so hard, but I think it's good to get all results in and then decide I guess, good luck to your DD on her auditions
Thank you Yorshiremum, did you go along with your DD? That is a small audition only 9. Do you happen to know what the intake is on the course I have searched on their website with no joy, it isn't my DD main choice either.
She still has another 4 to do plus a recall and funding audition
it just goes on and on. Good luck to your DD hope she gets what she wants

Re: September 2015
Hi Lorry. No she went on her own by train as she was already in London the day before, so a very long day! I don't know the intake either. There were more there for the afternoon session and about 15 the morning after (another friend was there).

Re: September 2015
Hi Yorshiremum,
Thanks for that
