Exhausting - it's one long dance class, with very few breaks & no time to change between Ballet/Jazz etc

Split into two groups I think one group do Physio, Singing & Acting while the other group Dance then vice versa

The group that does dance first finish in stages after 2:30 as they get their other bit done but if they do singing & acting first they finish at 4:30

But she loved it!

katymac well done to your DD. Can I ask re funding (new to this bit) for Bird college - is it not covered by the usual student loan / maintenance loan for fees? DD was thinking of Bird in future but we could not afford fees up front (she is 16 but would audition for post 18 entry to colleges)

I 'think' they offer a degree with student loan or a Diploma which might be funded by a DaDA

Maybe?

DD never looked at a degree as she won't have enough UCAs points

Edited to say thanks to both of you for your congratulations :D

3 auditions now = 3 offers and one very happy dd. Regardless she will still travel tomorrow to the UK to visit one school and meet up with friends who are in their 2nd year at one school and then go to the recall audition for another school.

She is hoping to get one more degree offer before making her decisions. I hope this trip will help make it clearer as to where she will want to go but OMG I am going to miss her terribly! At least she will be with her grandparents so I know she is well taken care of.

If all goes well she will withdraw her application to audition to the 4th school, and she has 2 weeks to decide whether or not we need to make a deposit for one school. The other two schools we will need to await her results before we will know with certainty what will happen.

moleseymum wrote:Congrats to your DD Cluelessmum, GSA is my DS's dream school! When we went to the open day the impression was that the days are long, probably 8 til 6 every day. They said that in the first year they go 'back to basics' and focus on training with no performances, the aim being to give all students the stamina for 8 shows a week. They get to do a performance in the second year and the third year is mainly all performances. Oscar is correct, the atmosphere was lovely.
No student, unless they have taken one or more years out, will have their A level results until mid August, so I guess you can safely hold your places.
Oscar, I think on another thread you offered to send some audition tips, would be very grateful if you could PM me too :)
Thanks moleseymum - hope your ds does well with his auditions too - is he trying for GSA this year?

Yes, Katymac is right, Bird offers both Diploma from age 16 (with possible DaDA) and Degree from age 18 which can be covered by student loan - they are one of the few schools (GSA being the other) which charge only £9000, all of which can be borrowed from Student Finance.

Lovely seeing offers coming in, congratulations to those and good luck for those still waiting x

Thanks Carriecrafts, that is what I hoped was the case. My DD would only want to go at 18 and I think we have decided to try the diploma at our local (ish) college which is an art and performing arts/music college instead of A levels so hopefully the diploma course will be ok, DD can do an A level there at the same time there so will try that. It is good to see everyone's progress and very inspiring. DD waiting for YMT news but feeling a bit despondent as there seem to be lots of tweets about that and she hasn't heard anything. The whole rejection bit is so hard but I am trying to think of it as helping her gain resilience. Glad there are people to share experiences on here, it really helps.

Great news Katymac :D My DS has an offer from Bird too, but it is the degree course so he would get a loan. He really liked it there but still has some recalls to go before he makes a final decision.

He has two trips down to London this week too DanceDiva. He was there today for an Arts Ed recall just for the singing part. Unfortunately he is so full of cold that his school actually sent him home yesterday so although he went and did the audition he is not holding out much hope! It's such a shame as it was his favourite. :( He is also back at Urdang this weekend so I hope he is better by then. I really feel for him. Good luck to your DD for Bird tomorrow.

I wouldn't give up on YMT just yet. Apparently they send out offers show by show. We are waiting too. It seems that 4 shows have been offered so far, which means there are 4 more to go. The rejection is so hard for them but it has to make the achievements even sweeter!! Fingers crossed for your DD (and mine!!) [-o< [-o<

Pearl I was also under the impression that they didn't do funding recalls.

I was talking to a mum who's daughter had been offered place with DaDa in January.

My DD doesn't have her audition with Performers until the end of the Month, so was hoping that once that one done she could concentrate on her LSC Recall and her Laines Funding recall ](*,)

Think dd's friend confused, we had to fill in a letter about income so they can allocate funding!

When are you at Laines Lorry? We are there on Friday 24th April 8-[
