Gsa recall
Hi everyone! Posted here a few months about my central audition.
Since then, I've managed to get a recall for GSA which is tomorrow!!
i was just wondering if anyone had any experience with guilford BA acting recall auditions and what they typically entail?
In my first audition I only performed my contemporay audition and I have read that in the second audition they will ask you to perform whatever you did not previously perform.
HOWEVER, i've also read its best to go with your most confident audition piece regardless of what you did first time? I would be worried doing this, getting caught out and being rejected on that basis.
Any advice on recalls in general would be very useful. This is my only recall out of the 4 drama schools i applied to which is understandable with it being my first year so i really want to make this one count.
THANKS X

Again my dd was auditioned for MT - she took forever to hear - 5 weeks!
I'm sure others will have had a shorter time.
Hope it won't be a huge wait - and let us know how it goes!

Re: Gsa recall
The probably wanted to know how well you knew the character and setting of your Shakespeare piece. If you are just reciting the words and don't really understand what you are saying then asking you to do it in modern English will show this quite quickly I think. I remember learning songs in French at school, 35 years ago, I can still sing them now and sound very fluent, have intonation, even actions but have no clue what I am singing about. We learnt them parrot fashion, not even sure if we were ever given a translation!
My 12 year old dd is Shakespeare mad and has watched several plays and films versions and listen to CDs as well as read original text and books of them so has a thorough knowledge of most of the characters and setting in many of his works. If you asked her to describe any scene/monologue in modern language she could probably do it. She is in rehearsals to play Puck in 'Dream On' a modern version of A Midsummer Night's Dream, (set around the Athens Olympics), because the general plot is the same, and stories within stories, the twists and turns are still there and the characters have the same personalities (even the same names) and quite a lot of the language is still old English - formation of sentences etc, F is able to help the other cast members, who get confused about what is going on (mainly adults, one other child, several late teenagers). They have been very impressed with her understanding and ability to 'translate' what is happening.

Re: Gsa recall
My DD waited about 2 weeks before she heard. It was Musical theatre though so could be different. In her Recall out of the ones that stayed longer for the interview (about 6) 4 were offered a place. She has since found out that some of her class mates were offered a place in their interview but I think they were the ones that had recalls earlier in the year.
Good luck. It's an excellent school
