Hi everyone my dd is in 1st year at Laine there are 24 boys in the year most but not all have funding - some Dadas have already been given and a few Betty Laine Scholarships which mainly seem to go to boys/associates or Foundation students going onto Diploma. As the income boundaries have increased this year I don't know whether more people will get less assistance or if there is a bigger pot for Dadas - hope that makes sense, my dd loves it there so good luck to you all :D

Yes unfortunately for all of us with dd's it does some to be the way that boys get more help because the colleges are desperate to get good boys.

There was a girl there today who is on foundation at Laines and she told dd that last year the boys took two thirds of the dada's!
Bring it on!!!

My DD got offered a Dada a year ago this Saturday so you might not have to much longer to wait, also it was that weekend that Laine started to offers theirs as well.

Performers is his favourite, so happy days.... :D

He has also had offers from the other colleges he auditioned at, he only auditioned for 3 colleges, but I think Performers is the place for him!

Good luck to everyone else x

dancingmoll wrote:I'm interested to see a few of you have been put on the 'waiting list' from Urdang too, my DD was worried it was a sort of rejection as she really wants/needs the degree and it seemed to suggest she was now only being considered for the Diploma and Dada awards. Is that how you guys all saw it? or do you think they're just waiting till the end of the recalls to designate places? Gutted that's another 3 weeks of having to wait before we get a confirmed decision, this process just goes on and on:(
I'm in a similar position to your DD and I'm confused too about this! I applied for the Urdang degree course and got offered the diploma and I'm going back for my funding audition in May. I know that if I don't get funding there's absolutely no way I can afford to go so I really needed degree as well. I didn't know if this meant that I definitely won't be on degree? Does anyone know if the funding auditions are also the degree/diploma deciding auditions?

Such a weight off my shoulders knowing I've got a place but I'm so worried that if I don't get funding I can't take the offer!

Hi lily31095,
the funding audition is the same as the degree audition. Well done on the offer so far :)
After the funding audition Urdang should let you know whether you have either: a place on Degree, reserve for Degree, an offer of funding for the Diploma, or your current offer but without funding.
Keep an eye on your UCAS status after the recall as I heard that one of DD's friends has heard nothing direct from Urdang yet but their UCAS changed so they know they don't have a Degree offer :( As long as your UCAS is still awaiting a decision then you are still being considered for the Degree :)
Good luck! x

lily31095,
I think the degree auditions were the ones held in March (14th and 22nd). After the first audition there was a letter inviting you to a recall for the degree and giving a definite diploma offer. The May auditions are for the diploma funding only as far as I can see from the website. Good luck with your funding audition. Fingers crossed.
