Hey all,
another preforming arts mum here, just wondering how likely late Dada's are, my daughter has got in to Millennium, Urdang, Cambridge and SLP all I know is at the moment she is on the reserve list for Cambridge and Urdang (Degree and Diploma for Urdang) , and has a funding audition for SLP next week, but how likely is movement on the reserve lists?

DD just received confirmation that she has got the Urdang degree offer but just not sure we can afford it - we were really hoping for some sort of support from Urdang, so she will probably be turning it down. So that's one place which will become available. We are still waiting for Laine Dada news, like lots of us, and keeping fingers and everything crossed - should be hearing next week??

Congratulations to your dd squash balls.
I am confused though as I thought the degree course would be more afordable as you can get student finance to cover fees and living costs, whereas with a dada you don't get any additional funding.

Yes you are right, but the Urdang course attracts an additional £3210 per year on top of the £9000 (which she could get from a normal student loan) and then the letter lists additional expenses. The Bird course seems to be just £9000 without extra fees.

If the school uses UCAS you can expect fairly rapid movement after the deadline for accepting offers ... that's quite soon I think. Fingers crossed for all still waiting and well done to those with firm offers and funding!

Well done to everyone with offers! My DD has Dada funding for Italia Conti and Cambridge bodyworks. Does anyone have any idea how to choose between these colleges? She also is on reserve for Dada at Performers and waiting list for Urdang. Does anyone know how many dadas Performers usually offer? Also has anyone heard from London Studio Centre recall yet? So much waiting and uncertainty is a nightmare.

Hi Recless, well done to your DD, she's doing great. Don't know about Bodyworks but my DD also offered a place at Contis (London) and waiting to hear about funding. She really liked it there. I get the impression they have made a lot of offers and no doubt collected a lot of £250 registration fees! Can I ask when you DD received her DADA Award?

We too are on the waiting list for Urdang funding. She was no 86 of 90 who were there on 19th April! Well done to Pearl's DD for her DADA, she has done so well - has anyone heard of anyone else getting DADA funding from Urdang? I wonder how many of us are on the waiting list which I presume is different from a reserve list and suggests a lot of the awards have not yet been made? I know of another girl who was at that audition who has had a "no" to any funding so it's good to know they have not all been put on the waiting list but I would imagine quite a lot have. Oh to be a fly on the wall of these admissons offices! However I don't envy them their job of having to choose who, from all these very talented young people, gets the opportunity.

My DD has also accepted an out of catchment place at BRIT School so be good when we all know what is happening so we can all release the no longer needed places to others.

my dd is on the 3 year diploma at Bodyworks and loving it..it is very hard work, but the beauty of it is that the classes are really small, and then are streamed in certain subjects so classes are even smaller.. It makes it all very personal and they get assessed constantly..

feel free to PM if you want any more info x

My daughter received this from Urdang today, she enquired last week to see if any thing else had changed yet:

We apologise for the delay for this update.

I can confirm that you are STILL on the waiting list for funding on your Diploma and for a place on the Degree.

We have another funding audition on 10th May and expect to be making further firm offers shortly after this date.

Thank you for your patience.

She is also on reserve list for Cambridge and this weekend she has her funding audition for SLP, aaarrgghhh the waiting lol, seems endless.

There has to be a better way for these talented students to get funding she got into Chichester Uni as a back up, but then says well next year I will just audition for Drama school again, makes me think it is not worth the year away and to possibly look into foundation courses......

Mummyaud, DD received her Dada offer about 2 weeks ago from Italia Conti. Sounds like they are sending them out in batches. As far as Urdang funding is concerned, I think they still have more auditions this month so are probably waiting until they send any more firm Dada offers. Start of June I guess. I think when Laine make their Dada offers those kids waiting will make their decisions and there will be movement on other waiting lists, but I am only guessing.

Thanks Jasmine2, small classes sound great! Bodyworks sounds like a really good school and DD loved all the teachers at the auditions. Think DD will decide soon.
