Hi Pearl, up until this year the Urdang uniform list specified that everything had to be Capezio and bought direct from the Covent Garden store where they gave 30% discount with proof of course. DD says they have changed the uniform requirements this year to allow people to source things elsewhere... but sadly they have lost the 30% discount and she thinks they only get 10% in Covent Garden now.

The black skirt was expensive (about £70 I think!) but they do wear it for all MT and Rep classes. x

The New Yorkers they have specified are like £60 too!!! Why couldn't they pick a cheaper one!

Pearl, please can you let me know where you manage to get the New Yorkers from. My niece is starting Urdang in September too. They don't live near London so have been trying to order online but they seem to be sold out everywhere. They need a 5 in both the black and the tan I think. Thanks.

Hi ajbew, I was told by another mum that they don't have any in stock so need to order them.
Probably best if she rings the Covent Garden store to order x

It's probably too late for anyone on here but I just wanted to point out that gsa's (University of Surrey) new Actor Musician course is in Clearing - first year they're running it so I suspect it just wasn't known about. So if anyone has the quadruple threat course requirements then maybe worth looking at. I have no idea how they audition if you are in clearing but I really want to know! And it is possible to apply for UCAS now for a clearing place even if you haven't had an application in already for Sept 2015, I understand.

RE GSA.
my daughter's boyfriend was offered a place on the 3 yr BA acting course, after having been placed on the reserve list. The offer was conditional on his achieving his target grades. Unfortunately, he hasn't achieved these grades,[2 A'S] and they will not accept him on the course. I really do think that this is harsh, since the course is about Acting, not Maths. Why make an offer to begin with? If his Acting wasn't good enough, then surely a rejection would have been more appropriate. With the grades he has achieved, he could get in through clearing to a red brick uni, yet GSA will not accept him on a course to do acting.Obviously, he is probably nearer the bottom end than the top, but his audition must have been okish. I find the situation farcical.

Oh that's tough jaybeeyellow. I'm sorry to hear that. We went to the musical theatre BA talk at the Open Day and they explained that the academic requirements were placed on gsa by the university when they amalgamated with it, in order to have the uni degree validated. I suspect they felt much the same way about it as you

Yes it just seems so unfair. I understand the reasons re the university, but surely common sense should prevail. Either that or don't put these unreasonable conditions on offers. To my mind, it seems crazy that you have to have higher grades to study acting than to do a degree in maths or science! Madness.

It's because they are part of the university of Surrey . I think they are allowed to bend with a couple of candidates each year and that's it. What a shame though after being accepted . I think there was another Napmer waiting for grades for gsa. Hope all went well there x
