Auditioning for 2016

One of my students went to Trinity Laban this year and she's having a great time. She is definitely more of a vocalist than a dancer and had very limited dance training when she went so I doubt it's very dance orientated. Sounds more music based.
I'm not really in touch with her now so can't give much more info sorry but I know she loves it.

Thanks for response , she has now got an offer for Barcelona , I know Trinity is excellent , but worried the dance may not challenge her enough

DD has friends in both the first and second year at Trinity Laban, although they are all on the dance course, rather than MT. They all love it there. I confess I know nothing about the content of the MT course but you would have thought the standard of dance teaching must be good as you would presume teachers for both courses overlap.

Wondering if anyone knows anybody on the Musical Theatre degree course at Hammond?

I only know people on the diploma courses in MT and dance at Hammond. The BA degree course is still in its first year as the course only started last September. I know that the BA students are taught completely separately to the diploma students and that they have a lot fewer hours at Hammond than the diploma students. Whether they have other classes and lectures at the university as well as the Hammond classes, I don't know. I believe their terms and accommodation are through the university. It is all very separate to the level 6 diploma courses.

Hi everyone. Was just wondering if anyone else has heard back from a urdang funding audition or know how many more funding audition dates they have left. I noticed on the website that they have recalls that in April (what is the difference between funding and recall). Also a mum I spoke to there said if they're unsuccessful with funding audition they get offered pre voc. does anyone know whether that is true? Sorry for all the questions

Hiya when dd was offered a place at urdangs , she was also asked to go to the funding auditions. ..she didn't get funding but still had the offer on the 3year course xxx she didn't take up the offer as we couldn't fund it....happily she is at Bodywork Cambridge and loving it! ! Good luck x

Urdang have 6 funding recalls so 600 going for funding
Dd2's got places at 5 colleges (waiting to hear from Bird) but will go for funding at all of them in the hope she gets funding somewhere
Dd1 has had all 'no's - still got Bristol Old Vic and Central to go but is thinking of working next year and doing a Youth Acting Company at Bristol Old Vic and applying again next year.

Last year my dd had funding audition at Urdang and got a dada offer about 12 days later. So hopefully the wait won't be too long x

Hi have just joined the forum but have looked through many posts about the audition process to help me deal with the stress !
my dd is also waiting for news from Urdang after her degree recall last weekend. I think they aim to get back to you within 2 weeks with some
sort of offer. As I understand the recall is just for a degree place or funding, and everyone attending will already have a confirmed
self funded place on either the Diploma or Foundation course. There are clear guidelines on the Urdang website.
This is my dd's first choice so we have everything crossed for the degree as she is 19 this year and just completed a years foundation.
She still has another 3 auditions to do depending on the outcome from Urdang. The whole process is exhausting, I will be glad
when we have a result !

Welcome doffiler1. Any parent who has been through the process will agree with you, the stress is unbearable. The joy when the get the place at the school of their dreams is something you or they will ever forget so I hope you both have that to look forward to soon.

Many of daughter's friends at Urdang funding audition last week , they haven't heard yet . will let you know as soon as soon as they hear . Good news for many students at Dance School of Scotland at Knightswood , 8 of the 16 MT final year students called back to Mountview ( my D included ) after audition in Glasgow on Friday . Before they had heard about call backs , all of the pupils said is was a very positive experience , Mountview staff were so supportive and the whole experience was enjoyable .

Quick clarification re Bird. One page of website in the entry requirements section says fees for the BA are £9,000. The funding page for the BA says that 'student top up contributions apply at current rates' which may imply that the fees are higher than £9,000. Unless they are £9,000 but the max loan is £6,000 like some other drama colleges. Or is it that the fees are £9,000 and the loan is £9,000 but there are add on costs for other things on top of the £9,000. The funding page says that details are available by contacting the college. Can anyone clarify? And why don't they just publish the damn information?
