Auditioning for 2016

Friends daughter had a phonecall from Performers on Thursday offering a DADA, after having attended the scholarship audition, and another from a different college on Friday (don't know where), meaning she now has 3 funded offers and is waiting to hear from at least one.

We had a phone call from Performers on Thursday after attending the audition on Monday. DD has three DADA offers just waiting to hear from Urdang before making a decision. Good luck everyone.

Anyone else finding the waiting hard.....beginning to panic that dd won't get funding
Waiting to hear from Urdang, Performers, Millennium and Laine. Bodyworks was Reserve list and Bird a place but no funding.

Does anybody know if you can apply for a DaDa at 16, if you choose to go to a performing arts college and again at 18, or can you only get it once?

DADAs are linked to both course and college - as in you have to be doing the Trinity level 5 or 6 diploma and at an approved college. I imagine if there is a reason you drop out of your first course, you might still be able to get one if you start again elsewhere but I don't know for sure. Under normal circumstances however, I don't see why you would want a DADA at 16 and then again at 18 as you would be repeating two years of a three year course at the same level and I don't think you would get funding to repeat training at the same level. Yes Steffysmum , fees will be covered at Conservatoire so we are very fortunate but it a very different Musical Theatre Course from Mountview and Trinity .so need to get thinking . Thanks for the kind words everyone , I hope everyone gets some good news this week .

I am sure BA in private institutions can have a student loan , but only for £6000 ( this is true for Mountview) , Trinity - BA full student loan available £9000

My DD is 18 and has decided to go for Acting instead of Musical Theatre.

We have found out the hard way how difficult it is to get on to an Acting degree - all the auditions she went for seemed to have much older people attending. She was recalled for Lamda, Central, East 15, and PPA. She was offered a 3-year diploma with PPA on both the Acting and Musical Theatre courses but we can't get Student Loans for it so she can't accept it. She has been offered a Foundation with East 15 and we can get a student loan for that so I think she will go there. But now, LAMDA have offered her a recall for the foundation diploma. There is no funding for it unless you are lucky to be offered a scholarship.

So it looks like East 15 (which she loved) and going through all this again next year

Yes it's a nightmare getting in and then navigating through all the funding variations! I'm intrigued by your statement that there is a student loan available for a foundation year at E15. Normally there are no student loans available for foundation years. That's certaintly the case for all the colleges who offer it that we looked at (DD didn't apply to E15).

I can confirm that there is definitely funding available for the East 15 foundation.
I can recommend the course BUT it does not guarantee acceptance on to the 3 yr BA course.

That is great news . Does anyone know why E15 can get student loans and the likes of GSA, Mountview, Urdang, Bird and ArtsEd don't? Or is it a choice that they make?
