Robin64 wrote:Beanie bean I would love to hear how your DD is enjoying the Bird Summer School as we thought about trying the MT one there. GSA one is great so far so good. They advised getting applications for 2017 in asap if that helps anyone. I didn't realise just quite how hard it was to get in though! Ouch! DD will definitely be applying though - summer school has made up her mind on that.
Interestingly GSA are showing as having clearing places on the MT and Actor Musician degrees for September! I have messaged them to confirm that it isn't an error but have yet to receive a reply. Would be interested in knowing how somebody applies got a clearing place given that entry is via audition as well as grades...

Hi Robin64
My DD is really enjoying the Bird Summer School. I haven't spoken to her much, but from the texts and calls I have been getting she is definitely having a great time. :D xxx

Dd is going to bird summer school next week.

She is only 14 & has aspergers & the accommodation arrangements are very different to what I was originally led to believe (& the college take no responsibility for any problems)

Can I ask what type of accommodation your dd has & how is it going.

Hi there,
In no particular order - Laine, GSA, Arts, Central, Mountview, Bird and Urdang for MT and Guildhall and RCM for Voice.
Exciting but nerve wracking for us parents!

Good luck Jasmine. This will be interesting process and it is good to have last years threads to look at for information and inspiration. Dd has said she intends to increase fitness training in preparation.

Our DD will be auditioning too.

She's just completed her first year at Capa College Wakefield and it's ben a joy to see her develop. She's most interested in MT so last week spent the week at Urdang taking part in their Audition Course. She loved it!

We're hoping she manages to get on a degree course. I've joined this site to hopefully pick up any tips from people with similar experiences.

Hi .. Its not my dd who is applying..lol...I was commenting on another post. My dd is about to start her 3rd year at Bodyworks Cambridge. It is SO worth auditioning there if you want dance or MT..it is a fabulous place! Hard work but small class sizes so has a family/almost one to one feel about it.
Good luck

Good luck to her. Capa college is somewhere my DD has thought about for sixth form. Is your DD more of a dancer? I have heard that it is strong on dancing, whereas DD is stronger on acting. I'm also aware they have funding to build a new college in Leeds, so thinking they will be running more courses, by the time it's DD's turn. It's stil some time away as DD is 13 and she would have to commute, so we'll look into feasibility both in logistics and finances nearer the time, but interested in knowing your DD's experiences.
