Update is that I got an email this morning asking DD to email them on day of audition to say she was unwell and they would arrange another date. This email was a response to my initial one from last week when I knew she was getting flu. It is really strange that I was told to pay again yesterday when I called. It certainly did not seem fair.
We had quite an upset day and evening worrying about it - the fee was £55 so it would have been £110 if I had re-booked which I didn't do for that reason! DH was made redundant a month before Xmas so as you can imagine it has been stressful enough. Thanks for all your messages it was really supportive.

I would be inclined to ring them again saying that you have received their email, and would like to rebook an alternative date, but ask if the fee you have paid will be passed over to the new date...

Kind of puts you off doesn't it when they seem to be being unreasonable..
Good luck x

I'm glad a new date is being sorted. I wonder if the person you spoke to was fully trained in their process as it is very unfair to pay again, and not in line with other colleges. I can imagine how stressful it has been for you. xxx

On another note, for anyone that has already applied to Performers, after sending your application could you please let me know if you received your audition date through the post or by email?
We got ours through the post from Performers.

Thanks for the reply, our form was posted just before Christmas (and I think it would have arrived just as they broke up) so I guess it will be a little while before we get a date back. It's helpful to know we need to allow the time for the post.

DD found out two friends from MT summer school have had to re-book and pay again to audition at Central due to illness (One had tonsillitis, the other flu) so it must be what they normally do. I am hoping that the email we got meant re-scheduling which it did sound like, if so we might be lucky. Crikey, I am very surprised (and disappointed) by this situation. I know they do not do open days any more because we were told the audition was the open day and they give every applicant an audition now.

Re the Central not refunding situation. It just reinforces the impression that for some colleges it's a money spinner. It really is an appalling way to treat young people and parents and is doing nothing to dispel the lack of value for money that auditions give. Sadly there is no alternative short of boycotting them which is a little extreme.

DD was at Central today. Thoroughly enjoyed it and was recalled for the afternoon session. She really got a lot out of it and liked the feel of the school :)

DD loved her day at Bodyworks yesterday. Interesting though that she was told you are strong enough to do the level 6 Diploma but I think you would be better to do the Foundation first. She also had comments about being 15. I am beginning to wonder if this is normal at 15 and that students coming straight from normal school are offered Foundation courses rather than straight to level 6. Anyone else experiencing this please?

My daughter was only fifteen when she auditioned last year, the colleges she auditioned for didn't mention her age. She was offered funding at all four colleges she applied to. We didn't apply to Bodyworks so maybe they are more concerned with the age of the student.

Glad to say DD did get offered an alternative audition date. Just makes you wonder why they did not just do this in the first place and for those other students. Very odd. Glad to hear it was a good day for your DD reachforthestars. Good luck with recall.

The secretary was really helpful there when I had to change the date, so any queries, send them an email and I'm sure they'll be happy to help
