Auditioning for 2017

Re: Auditioning for 2017
Thank you for the suggestions/advise regarding deposits. That's what hubby is saying Munchpot, if they subsequently fill in the space (they offer more slots than they actually have they said) then how can they justify not returning the deposit even if it does say non returnable.

Re: Auditioning for 2017
I think £500 deposit is far too much when they haven't finished their auditions. LSC also wanted a non refundable £500 for my dd's early offer even though I had heard in the past that they don't take them. Seems they've jumped on the bandwagon. When I called them about it they advised it was non refundable and if I didn't pay it then the early offer would lapse and my dd would have to go through the recall in April, so that's what we are doing.Barton285 wrote:Has anyone ever had their deposit back from a course which their youngster decided not to take up? Basically Urdang (Foundation) are wanting a £500 deposit (gulp!) but we are still like everyone else waiting to hear about dada's.
I haven't heard of anyone getting a deposit back. My friend paid £200 to secure her dd's place at Urdang on the degree course and lost it when she accepted another place, but then she didn't ask about it. I don't think she thought they would agree. However it would be great if there was a chance of getting them back....and well done to your dc on the Urdang foundation. I heard their foundation end of year show was excellent xxx
Re: Auditioning for 2017
Of course the downside is that it's for a foundation course and if your DD wants to audition there next year they may. It look too kindly on someone who 'kicked up a fuss'Barton285 wrote:Thank you for the suggestions/advise regarding deposits. Re: Auditioning for 2017
Does anyone know the fees for performers please??
DD has audition tomorrow & no fees are listed...
Also if she was to get in & be offered a dada ..
Is there any funding for living or loans ...
Thanks

My DD is currently waiting to hear of she has a DADA from Performers.
The offer letter she has had says fees for Sept 2017 are £4920 per term
There's no finding available for housing / living etc the DADA will just cover fees up to the stipulated levels
Re: Auditioning for 2017
Don't worry about places. When you do a foundation course they always like you to audition late . Don't think the foundation students have finished theirs yet.Live_thedream wrote:Wondering if you can help me with 2 questions please.
1. DS has arts ed audition in 10 days. I have heard places get offered as the auditions take place so I presume that by the time the audition will come round there might not be any places left as number of places are limited. Does anyone know how it works?
2. DS Shakespeare monologue that he was going to act is not of a young character - will this be putting him at a disadvantage?
As for the monologue I think it depends on how old the character is. I can't imagine they would want to see a teenager play King Lear but Hamlet might be ok ??? If possible go for a character he can plausibly play.... But don't worry too much. Make sure he knows the duologue really well . Good luck.

DaDAs are means tested. If a student is awarded a DaDA then there is an element for the tuition fees for household income below £90,000 and an element for maintenance costs for household income below £30,000. The amount your dd would receive is based on your household income for the previous year. You can see the amount she would get on this page (it has the current year's amounts but not 17-18 yet):Barrysue wrote:Does anyone know the fees for performers please??

Thanks Oscar for the advice. It was Orsino from twelfth night. Re the duologue, they have said they won't be asking them to do it this year ...?oscar wrote:

We are in the same boat. My daughter has been offered three Foundation courses so far - Italiabeanie-bean wrote:I think £500 deposit is far too much when they haven't finished their auditions. Conti, Evolution and Bodyworks but still has Stella Mann (21st April) and CPA Studios (24th April) to audition at. Her favourite is Evolution but they want £500 deposit by April 28th and she is unlikely to have heard from her last two auditions by then. Compare this with Bodyworks who only want £75 registration fee and not until June 16th.

Bodyworks is a wonderful place to study, very hard work and great results. DD is about to graduate after 3 amazing years..feel free to pm me if you need any info xxklchaplin1980 wrote:We are in the same boat. I believe that children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way.......

You are right I just had a look. It seems to have changed a lot. I'm sure Orsino will be fine. As long as he can justify his choice then don't worry. Hope it goes well .Live_thedream wrote:Thanks Oscar for the advice. It was Orsino from twelfth night. Re the duologue, they have said they won't be asking them to do it this year ...?oscar wrote:

Re: Auditioning for 2017
Rubbish isn't it! I understand that they need to take deposits to try to prevent those holding on to multiple offers, but I think they should wait until the auditions have finished so every one can make an informed decision. Bodyworks sound very reasonable, and Millennium were good too as they said we didn't have to pay the registration fee until my dd hears regarding the funding. Oh well, I think its very harsh to want such high deposits before the auditions have finished, but I don't think any things going to change. Well done to your DD on her offers so far, and good luck with her other auditions. Perhaps give Evolution a call? you never know they may extend it for you.klchaplin1980 wrote:We are in the same boat. My daughter has been offered three Foundation courses so far - Italia

Re: Auditioning for 2017
Hi
After reading with interest for many months I have finally made a log in to join in.
We have gone through the audition process this year with my DD (18). She had a recall for GSA but no offer. Rejected Millenium degree offer. Was offered a place at Urdang but sadly no funding so had to decline and is on the reserve list for Bird. She has decided to accept an offer for the foundation at Performers. Has anyone got a child there doing foundation at the moment and are you getting housing benefit ?

Re: Auditioning for 2017
So today we got an offer from Performers College , on the 3 year course , anyone else ??
We are still waiting to hear from Bird ( audition was March 16th) and are holding an offer from Chichester, but need to get A levels ... decisions, decisions
Obviously Performers does depend on funding ...
