My DS claimed housing benefit for foundation. It was a battle. But we did it. Give it your absolute best shot !

I found the NUS site really useful. https://www.nus.org.uk/en/advice/money- ... student/#1

Don't be put off if they say no and get the school on your side.

We have paid out loads for DD1 at uni already - accommodation is the big expense which is nowhere near covered by loans and DD works every weekend too which has been pretty hard. At least tuition fees have been talked about during this election.
Robin- There's an article in the FT about this, the maintenance loan not covering accommodation.

When there is already this situation for studying other subjects, that PA is even worse funded is a disgrace, especially when the contact hours should be at 30+, meaning not much time for having a part-time job as well.

The PPA website says HB is available for their Foundation course and I think I also recall reading in The Stage that Read college went ti battle with Reading council about it and won. That was a couple of years ago.

Chichester uni , she's happy with either she loves Chichester and if bird did offer her a place I think it would be a very hard decision for her , so I kind of think she's hoping it makes its own decision ! What will be will be .
She was offered Laine but didn't get funding !
How about yours ?
It's been a very long , tiring expensive ride the whole process is ridiculously long . X

I'm just wondering if anyone else has come up against the same issue we are. I'm looking for advice. My daughter is 15 and 16 in July but as we are looking at housing for Bodyworks we are finding that age group few and far between and are worried about her house sharing with much older students. We found a house for 8 and 5 rooms are already taken by 1st years but after joining a group chat she has discovered that the others are all either 18 or 19? Thanks for any advice in advance. Xx

When my daughter went to performing arts college, the 16-18yr olds lived with families, have you spoken to bodyworks? They may have a list, my daughter said this happened to this age group of student because they are under age.

I plan on ringing Bodyworks tomorrow as they will be re opening after half term to try and get some help. I'm not sure that that is on offer though. Thankyou I will see what they say. It would be better than her being in a house with the older students on her own. Xx

At a recent information meeting Hammond told us that 16/17 year olds HAD to live in vetted landlord/landlady accommodation and its one of the things that inspectors insist on.
