Can you wait to find out all the possible offers before deciding? There is often movement on reserve lists nearer the time of starting and after A level results. I'm no expert but we were put off by Stella Mann's Ofsted report so did not apply there so I would wait for other options if possible. As I say I don't know the college so other people might know better. I don't know LIPA either but from what DD says of friends who have auditioned there it has a high standard. However I would choose a degree/dip over foundation if possible due to finances but weigh it up when all the offers are in.WildFrontier1 wrote:Hello
My DD has nearly completed all her auditions and has received a few offers, but we are uncertain whether to try and stretch ourselves financially and take up the Foundation Year offer at LIPA (there is no guarantee that she would then get onto the degree course - last year only 3 students who did the Foundation Year were offered places on the degree) or to take the safer option of a funded degree at Stella Mann. She is also on the reserve list for Bird and is waiting to hear from Performers / LSC.
We really want to make the right decision, as well as safeguarding her training.
Any advice would be appreciated - Thank you.

DS just got a no from GSA
We were expecting it but still can't help but feel sad. 4 of his college friends have got recalls, all with good grades.

Exciting and terrifying in equal measure. I would have offered to meet up while they were in Mountview together but I'm sending him up on his own ot stay with godparents and take the tube across. I might be less nervous further away...but probably notCandafitt wrote:Just GSA next Friday then Mountview The following Friday (and possibly Sat!) for my DS. Fingers crossed! I had heard that a lot of degree students get offered reserve at Bird which then becomes a place further down the line - it is only a rumour, but I know three girls who've ended up at Bird starting with a reserve degree offer. Maybe they don't offer many straight places at this stage?WildFrontier1 wrote:Hello

Hello , My daughter was on the reserve list for BA for Bird last year , Once all auditions had taken place , We were then able to call up and find out whereabouts on the list you were , It gives you a good indication on the possibility of getting in or not , I’d say a good portion are always from the reserve list ! My daughter was told she was very high on list so it was a relieve ! Your not told numbers like some but just if your in top half , middle etc ! Best of luck for everyone , It’s a horrible feeling remember it from last year . XRobin64 wrote:Can you wait to find out all the possible offers before deciding? Sorry from me too. DD was really sad not to get a recall for GSA, she got one last year but not this time even though she felt she did very much better and has been doing a foundation too plus there was the dance workshop which she is strong on and she already had the grades. I think it was not even getting a recall that hurt her. She knows how much of a sacrifice the foundation is for us and felt she had let us down. Far from it though, I am really proud of her and how she has done this year.Live_thedream wrote:DS just got a no from GSAWe were expecting it but still can't help but feel sad. 4 of his college friends have got recalls, all with good grades.
I do think it is a "casting" situation in some ways for GSA - they are looking for a group of people and sometimes you are not right for it that year. At her recall last year the people who got an interview at the end of the day were not necessarily the most obviously good stand-out candidates but had a particular look. Obviously they were really good but DD said she thought there were people who were amazing and didn't get picked so don't be disheartened.
