Hi, my dd did the recall day at gsa about a month ago, she really enjoyed the day, the dancing was tougher than at the first audition and they all did their songs in a group (all from the list they were given) although they asked my dd to sing a part of her song from original audition..they kept 4 or 5 back for interview, my dd went in with another girl and he offered them both foundation as although he liked them didn’t think they were quite ready for the degree course..the interview was very quick. Hope that helps and good luck to all at the recall :)

DS went a few weeks ago. There were 24 there which is apparently more than normal so the day ran a bit late. The dancing was harder, but not too hard, they had to do songs and monologues in front of the group and they did the monologues in any order - you just got up when you felt like it and started off. DS had to do both songs and was then given changes to make to one and asked to do it again - I presume to see how he took direction. 4/5 were kept back for interview which was fairly frank and he was offered place at the end of it. Not what we were expecting as the blurb say wait for UCAS in 1-2 weeks.

Best wishes and hope it goes really well!

Thanks everyone for your kind comments and advice. DD has had 6 straight out rejections not even a single recall so as you can imagine has been a bit fed up! She does have one more left for Central but I think she has got to the stage where she has given up hope for this year. She has being doing a BTEC at Italia Conti this year in Guildford with extra classes and so is at her fittest but still no luck! She has decided (I think!) to work for the year and get prepared for next year. Taking some extra classes, short courses and to get even fitter! Having been into this for many years,I can't see her giving up lightly (I must say she is very fussy about where she wants to go!) On a good note, I get my dd home again for a year as she has been away for the last two (She went at 16!)

It's so hard!!! I'm so grateful for this forum as none of my friends have a clue and think I'm just being dramatic lol! When is Central? I'm wishing you all the luck in the world x

Belledancer wrote:Hi -how are the dancers getting on ? I just thought I would post my Dd's audition experiences. It's been a very stressful 4 months. She is a strong classical/jazz dancer who can sing in tune. She will be going in September at 18 having had excellent non vocational training as well as being very lucky to have access to a very good extended BTEC Diploma in Dance and Performing Arts at a local college.

Millenium Performing Arts - very friendly relaxed audition - offered Degree with a scholarship.

London Studio Centre - again very relaxed friendly audition - re-call for either Ballet or Jazz - her choice.

Urdang - loved the audition but can't see herself there - has a re-call but no guarantee of a place. Several peers from her dance school have a funding recall with a definate place. Out of all the colleges this is the hardest to get to grips with and the whole application/call back process is extremely confusing. She has cancelled her re-call.

Performers College - loved the whole vibe and was offered a place on the day - she was given the choice of Degree of Diploma.

Laine - her dream - offered a place with no recall needed.
and Bird College still to do at the end of April.

I can honestly say it's been hard - driving here there and everywhere, ensuring correct song, monologue leotards etc but worth it as choices to make. I feel for you all but I am sure our DD and DS will get where the need to be. But still no idea what each college wants/looks for and they are all so different
Just wondered whether she has decided what she would go for (Bird audition notwithstanding)? Sounds like you have lots of choice.

That's great news Scarytimes, well done to your DS! In terms of hearing back after recall, my DS college friend went for his recall I think 10 days ago. He got to interview stage, but wasn't told on the day, he's still waiting to hear.

Excellent. Fingers crossed that is where DS will end up as it was his favourite first round one. Just the matter of funding audition on 18th and we will see. Of course if he manages AAB with A levels there is always GSA, but he did love the atmosphere at Laine.

My DS is there tomorrow (Friday) just waved him off on the train to London! Well done to all the ones offered places so far. It's his first choice so got all my fingers and toes crossed.
