Laine is definitely THE place for her. We were very lucky in that she didn’t have to attend for funding, she was offered funding on the day of her actual audition. I’ve looked back and I can see some offers being made around May 12th and then accommodation lists were sent out during Whit. It could of course be different this year. Good luck to all waiting for news! :D
Ah yes. I see what you mean. I'll try to forget about it for another week at least then!

Hi scarytimes,

Dd knows a couple of people waiting for news too and some students on the foundation course. As soon as she hears anything, I’ll let you know! I can’t temember when Easter was last year, if it was earlier than this year? If so, that could mean an earlier date for results? Everything crossed for you, lots of luck!

Very well done to everyone with offers this year so far. We were at that stage last year and it was a stressful but highly enjoyable few months. My dc is almost a year into the course now and is having the most amazing time. Yes it’s a lot of hard work and dedication but the enjoyment for them is incredible. Well done to everyone. =D> If you haven’t achieved an offer this year, don’t panic your time will come along. :) mine is at their dream school , a year and half ago we would never have dared think that it could happen but it did and couldn’t be prouder or happier for them.

Hi Scarytimes - Easter was later last year and Laine funding audutions were definitely a couple of weeks later than this year. My dd's two friends heard exactly 3 weeks after their funding auditions and they said the wait seemed like forever! So could be another week before any news comes out! Then the next worry is sorting accommodation!

reachforthestars - how was finding accommodation? I gather they set up a facebook page? Hopefully DD will be going with at least one friend so hoping they can find somewhere to share.

Hi Belledancer,

They do set up a FB group for 1st years so that will be happening once the offers go out. We were actually sent an email from Laine with a list of properties available. It gave info such as where, what it was etc and contact info. This list goes out at the same time to everyone, Foundation to 3rd year! My advice would be to move quickly. Dd had already strarted chatting with people in the FB group and from that had made loose arrangements to house share if possible. But then the list comes out and it really is first come first served. For us, the proximity to college was the main criteria. Laine have already asked current students to advise of any forthcoming vacancies in their properties for the new college year, so the list is being compiled. In the end we took a room in a property 2mins from Laine, from looking at photographs sent by the landlord. We were able to FaceTime to have a chat and it was pay your deposit or take your chance that it’ll still be there when you make up your mind. So we went for it and she didn’t know anyone else in the house. She’s been incredibly lucky to be sharing with a great group of girls from all years and she’s made some really lovely friends. We then arranged to view the property when we went down to see the summer show, just as well she liked it as deposit had already been paid by then! So when that list becomes available, you really have to be quick as everyone will be trying to get sorted! Feel free to ask any questions and I’ll do my best to help :)

Ah that’s all so helpful. Thank you everyone. Huge help. So lovely to be in the same boat as others and also some veterans to give great advice. What a great little community. :)

Thanks DS really would love funding from Laine as although he has other offers (he has been fortunate) this is his preferred option without the extra stress of A level grades! I looked back on the forum and saw at least one person who went back to Laine for funding audition on 19th April so I guess there is similar timing as this year. I'm hoping for next Friday at the latest and that I'll be asking you for advice about accommodation too soon 8-[

Rather obsessively checked the entries for the last three years on NAPM about Laine funding and it is almost exactly three weeks every time. I’ll relax (?) for the next week then!

Hi candafitt they usually get told on the day of the recall at GSA. If you don't get asked to stay for an interview you haven't got in. That's what happened last year and I think it's been the same this year too. Are you waiting on MT or a different course?

Hi Robin64, as candafitt is probably in bed (like most sensible people) and I’m not...I know the answer to this one
Her DS did get through to interview at his GSA MT recall and they were told the outcomes would be out by 3rd May ;) ps: candafitt you said all that without moving your fingers!

Yes he was told to wait 2-3 weeks at interview then sent an email to say they were unable to confirm a place (although impressed with audition) until they had seen everyone by 28th April. He rang for further clarification and they said by 3rd of May he will be told either, declined, offer or reserve list! So I’m hoping for news today!!! ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

Can anyone help with the student finance question. I know you need to apply before end of May, but dd doesn't know if she can apply, Shes on reserve list for degree for Bird college. They remove them selves from your Ucas whilst waiting, so dd doesn't think she can apply for funding if the college is not on Ucas. Can anyone help. Can we still apply or do we have to wait if we get an offer?

Oh heck that sounds horribly cruel. This process is brutal!! Got both fingers crossed for him. DD did GSA recall last year and would have loved to go. Didn't even get recalled this year after foundation so really disappointed. Your DS has done brilliantly so hopefully a happy outcome. And haha yes I am a night owl :-)

Hi
You don't need to have an offer or anything on UCAS to apply

You can set it all up - Put University of Greenwich in as the place of Study and the Bird Degree Course Code is WW53 - this will bring it up automatically

You can do everything else and then cancel it if they don't get the place, but at least it'll be sorted in advance. Don't forget it's your DD who should be applying - so make sure she is aware of the terms you are signing her up to. She'll also need to contact Student Finance to give them permission to talk to you (should she want that) or they won't discus anything over the phone with you

That's brilliant, thanks for confirming, I assumed this was the case, but not 100%, have dealt with student finance in pass for son, but was straight forward with Ucas, applied, offered, accepted, finance set up. Is there a date you have to cancel it by if place not offered, do you know?
