Gosh there’s been a lot going on and to catch up on.

Those poor auditionees re the GSA mistake - they must have been hearbroken and what would happen if someone had tuned down a place elsewhere based on that false offer?! Shocking.

My DD’s A-level exams are nearly upon us too. She’s been working hard but there is so much to know! She’s got 2 intense weeks of exams in History, English and Drama and then it’s the big summer hols. Won’t be seeing much of her given all her plans. I think she’ll have to regain her fitness after all the hours of revising sitting down!

Lots to talk about but not a lot in the way of actual answers from the colleges sadly! Think a lot of our DCs have similar exams - my DS has English, Drama and Music. Lots of revision going on here too!

I definitely agree with this. When we went into this ‘we’ (DD/me) thought we knew which were her ‘Top 3’ and, of these, which was her clear favourite. However, despite getting an offer from her favourite she just didn’t feel it was right when she went to the recall...so very last minute she decided to try a couple of late auditions ‘just to see’, with the thought that, if necessary, she might take a gap year and try again next year (not sure my nerves could have taken it though!! #-o :D ) Glad to say, the minute she walked into one of the auditions she got ‘that feeling’, then she got great feedback at the interview and an offer, which she accepted all within 24hrs!! I feel very blessed to be sorted now as we were in that horrible ‘limbo land’ that others still sadly are :( Fingers crosses for each and every one of you still there [-o<[/quote]

That's great Fullmoon! I agree it is to be blessed to not have to be in limbo - some still have just under 2 months to go for exam results.

My DS seems to have that "right" feeling wherever he goes (sigh!) and only one place did not do it for him, so at least he should be happy wherever he ends up!
This made me smile, maybe he's just very adaptable :)

Then it crossed my mind, is my DS as stressed as i am? So now I’m worrying about that too. ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)
I definitely stress more than my DS. I put it down to the experience we have and increased awareness whereas for DS ignorance is bliss.

Best of luck to your DD and other DCs approaching their exams. I never did take A Levels and hear how hard they are, so credit to them all (and dealing with audition stress!)

Thank you, yes, we’re very fortunate, aren’t we? I will still be checking in here though to keep updated on all those offers that I know WILL start to trickle through in the next few weeks! [-o< xx

Sounds like a sensible decision to reduce the stress a little bit!

No news on the Laine waiting lists anyone? Feels selfish asking when I know some of you are still waiting to hear anything from them!!
Hi there! My daughter is 6th place on Laine reserve list, she was 7th. But she’s also been offered a BA at Urdang, and after a.lot of talking to students at both places she is over the moon to have decided on Urdang. So she is going to give up her reserve place. During her research it was apparent that she’d have likely been offered a place at Laine as they went further down the list last year.
Can I ask how you were informed she has gone up the list?
My daughter is so far down I am not hopeful and we received a letter not an email. But no contact since.
Also some people still don’t know so do they go further down the list?!! It’s all so confusing! She is 16 so has looked at the other things she has been offered and is happy to even be on the list even if she is last ( we don’t know thy jut assume so as it’s such a high number !) she may try again for Laine next year... if I can cope.
She is also on reserve for funding at Bird but have no idea where on the list. #-o
Hi sorry I didn’t reply earlier! I’m not entirely sure how she found out she had moved up the list tbh. But I know she has spent a load of time on the phone!! She was delighted to be possibly going to Laine as it was always her first choice. But she loved her Urdang audition. She then started to think what if I get offered Laine in July? So off her own back she researched through students at both places. (I know she has friends with multiple offers still on the table, so there will be movement on many reserve lists - but these are for diploma/degree courses)
I hope everything works out for your dd, I’m sure it will. One thing my dd said was “the right school will pick you”. And I do think that it happens, one of her first choices (I won’t say where) she didn’t enjoy the audition at all! Urdang was always an outside ‘we’ll see’ but she loved it!

Yes lots and lots of luck to all still waiting for offers to emerge and taking exams in the next month.

My DD is looking forward to the Arts Ed Foundation in September. Term begins on September 7th so quite early. Anyone else's DC starting this course? DD will then have to start the application & auditioning merry-go-round again, adding in some new places as well. So we will see and I will need to join the 2019 thread for sanity checks...

DD’s on the reserve for the degree at Trinity but thinks it unlikely anything will come of it plus accommodation will be difficult to secure if it is a last minute place, so she has put it out of her mind for now. Plenty to worry about re A-level prep without all that stress at the moment.

Just glanced my DD out in the garden sat in the shade surrounded by A Level revision books and notes....they really are remarkable aren’t they?! - juggling all this and the auditioning world too! ;)

I’m astounded at the resilience our young adults have. My DD is currently in Exam prep class for her Adv 2 ballet exam tomorrow then will be revising all night for her A levels. September can’t come quick enough when all she needs to concentrate on is her full time training. Huge congratulations to all DC and their parents for getting through this time.

Good luck for tomorrow. DS is getting ready for Adv 1 Ballet but may not fit it in as his teacher isn't well.

Goodluck! Yes once I'd calmed my daughter down yesterday I reminded her of all the things she has achieved this year! Auditions, offers, being part of a film to be shown worldwide this year, getting her first pointe ballet shoes. And having the lead part in a large pantomime! They have all achieved so much and I know we all are so proud of them x they just have to hang on a little longer xxx
