My daughter is in first year at Wilkes and when she auditioned they all heard regardless of whether they had a place. Maybe just drop them an email, they’re such a friendly college I’m sure they’d understand, especially if you mention you’re only asking as all her friends have heard already. Good luck xxcoxyloulou wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 12:48 pm Hi can anyone tell me if Wilkes let dc know if they haven’t got in? My daughter auditioned on January 20th 2021 and hasn’t heard anything. Knowing others that have audition later have heard back already?

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
My dd applied for an audition last year . She didn’t receive a reply after 6 weeks so we emailed several times . Eventually received a reply to say that they were still organizing audition dates . I asked for a refund of the audition fee as none of this inspired confidence in me .Grace03 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 1:44 pm We haven’t heard from Wilkes at all yet. No audition date or details of audition requirements. We heard from everywhere else within a week or two of submitting the ucas form. Even just an email to say they’ve received the application and will be in touch would be helpful.

Sounds like they’re not used to dealing with the amount of applicants they’ve had this year. They asked my dd where else had she had been offered in audition which I thought was an odd question. My dd friend hadn’t heard from them at all re audition, but she has just gotten a date for it as they’re zoom classes. So I’m sure you will hear soon.

Thank you for this. It seems that we need to be patient then. It’s a difficult one as she knows a few people who are already studying there who are all really happy - both with the training and the atmosphere.Dancecrazy wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 11:53 pmGrace03 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 1:44 pm We haven’t heard from Wilkes at all yet. It’s so difficult to form an opinion when we can’t go to look round! I’m trying to keep an open mind but the audition process ,due to the lack of open days, is going to be a big part of trying to get a feel for each college.

Think lockdown has made the whole process difficult especially in choosing where to go. Think going with their gut is the best way to decide. It will all come out in the wash good luck to your dd.

The only other option really is to take a year out but I know my daughter thinks there will be more applicants next year so it’s a risk that she doesn’t want to take.

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
My dd loves it at Wilkes, they do seem to be a very caring college with the principals often messaging/zooming them to check how they are, or when students were self isolating during the November lockdown they delivered food packages to them. I think re audition dates this year they were possibly hanging on as long as possible to see if they could do face to face but that’s obviously not going to happen which is sad. I know of another college (not going to name it) whose principal told the students who were expressing poor mental health to basically ‘man up’ and get on with it, this has proven to me how much difference a caring college can make.Grace03 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 07, 2021 9:18 amThank you for this. My DD is in first year at Wilkes and loves it, we've heard nothing but amazing feedback from her. The faculty is very impressive and they really do care about their students and have supported her when needed. The college is definitely growing as there's more interest but DD wanted a college where she'd be more than just a number and teachers that would know her and feels she's in the perfect place for her. I know they can be very slow with sending out auditions/responses which is frustrating.Grace03 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 1:44 pm

Hi everyone. DD has dance exercises to do for Italia Conti recall. Does anyone know if it is ok to mirror the exercises or are they expected to transpose in their head and copy the original dance if you see what I mean. One audition said it was ok, but this one didn't. Any help very welcome.

Hiya 2good2hurry, my DD has transposed them. She just assumed that was right. She said she’s not re-doing them if they’re wrong2good2hurry wrote: ↑Fri Feb 12, 2021 2:43 pm Hi everyone. Thanks. That's what my DD did in the end. She is a singer who can dance so this is all new to her. Best of luck to your DD!Louisedunn wrote: ↑Fri Feb 12, 2021 5:45 pmHiya 2good2hurry, my DD has transposed them. She just assumed that was right. Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
DD has submitted her remaining 4 online auditions for Laine, Performers, Bird and Masters yesterday. Urdang was done at the end of December (result was a recall). In one way we are both so relieved to be finished with all the filming as it was so much more time consuming than we expected. The added stress was trying to book hall space as our home simply wasn’t big enough. We ended up having to film 3 sets of different ballet exercises as Laine and Performers had set exercises. Then she filmed her ballet grade exercises for Masters, Bird and Urdang.
We had a similar situation for Jazz as different schools wanted different things. For anyone still needing to film, don’t underestimate the time it will take to film and edit everything. Especially if your DC is like mine and ends up filming each exercise multiple times. If you end up booking a hall, ask for more time if you can and if it won’t be too expensive just in case.
Now begins the painful 3 to 4 week wait to hear the outcomes. By the end of this I’ll have even more grey hairs. The only blessing is knowing they have been submitted and there is nothing more we can do. It really would have helped DD anxiety levels if she already had an offer in place. I’m now just envisioning September where things hopefully would have been sorted.
Has anyone else’s DC received any new offers. If you have, I’d love to hear some good news 🥰!

No more news here but just wanted to say a big well done to you and your DD. We know exactly how you feel with all the filming and organising halls etc. Hope you can now relax and that your DD gets the offers she wants. All stressful - cutting and uploading takes time too. And then some colleges have recalls and ask for even more material to be filmed. We must all be totally mad! Have a glass of wine tonight. You deserve it!

Thanks Amo185
, a glass of wine is definitely deserved! We really are all absolutely insane, I think it’s because we love our DC so much and just want to support them.
