Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
Decision has been made.
DD2 will continue in school and try out again in 2 years time.
She did fantastically well. She applied to 6 places, received 5 offers (4 diplomas & 1 BTEC) and 1 waiting list. So brilliant for her confidence.
Main factors is that she would be moving abroad on her own at 17, to the total unknown (1 virtual open day and 0 visits!) Also coming from Ireland a Leaving Certificate is really needed for any Plan B when/if she returns to Ireland.
It was her own decision, it was a tough and agonizing decision for her to make. In her heart she would really LOVE to choose dance college.
It was an interesting journey, and she has learned loads. She has time to do proper research in the next 18 months, try some summer classes at some of the colleges, attend open days, etc.
The tricky part will be balancing dance and Senior Cycle at school and keeping up her existing level of dance.
Fingers crossed it is the right decision...

I take my hat off to your dd Startinglate for making a very difficult decision herself - but I am sure it is the right one for her. She'll have the time to research and visit - and may well find her aims and ambitions change over her final years at school. Our DD's did. The college she would have aimed for is not where she's heading this year - despite getting an offer. They've all been through an unreal and difficult time and the performing world needs time to readjust and move forward. And I think our dc do too. Good luck to your dd and for everything she undertakes.

You must feel a huge relief with decisions made. We are still waiting on one result next week before deciding on whether to send her 300 miles away or do two more years at home. Head over heart/heart over head. Pros and cons will be done over her 16th birthday weekend. It's her decision at the end of the day but we both keep changing our minds. Not easy.StartingLate wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 11:59 pm Decision has been made.

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
Thanks everyone
I’m very proud of DD for making such a hard decision. Head over heart won out in the end but it went back and forth for many weeks. She has moved on now that decision is made and is not dwelling on what might have been. She also knows now that this is what she definitely wants to do once finished school.
Best of luck to all the DDs and DSs making decisions and to those still waiting on their preferred offers.

Evening all, we are still waiting to hear from Wilkes. My DD has been on the waiting list. All other offers are in but really want to hear from this one before any decisions are made. Anyone else still waiting for Wilkes?
Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
Glad she's sorted with it. I also think 2 years though it works out expensive, is going to be better for the industry to recover.islandofsodor wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 10:12 pm It appears that the system lost her RCS audition fee so she hasn’t even been considered yet. It’s been found & UCAS informed RCS yesterday but there has been no response yet. At the risk of losing her other place she’s accepted Associated Studios. It may be small and not as well known but we feel it’s right for her.

Dd had her grad showcase yesterday streamed live. It went really well and lots of agents attended but we are not really sure if they are going to be taking new clients on just yet when they still have all last years grads to try and find work for.

Yep still waiting on Wilkes after that email saying DD was shortlisted and can we confirm if she still wants her place.
Two of her friends have recd offers since that email so guess they are working their way through the list

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
Is anyone still waiting for ArtsEd recall result or know how long it takes? Took ages to hear after 1st round!
Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
So my DD finally heard from Arts Ed after a 9-10 week wait and was rejected. Has anyone here heard from Urdang recently? My DD is still waiting...

I’m so sorry, there’s nothing worse than an epic wait and then bad news. Does she have other options available besides Urdang? My DD is also still waiting to hear from Urdang, 5 weeks today since their recall! I just want an answer now, I’m sure you both do too.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for all those waiting to hear. Let’s hope there’ll be good news for those that need it.icantdance wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 9:33 am DS had an email from Laine on Wednesday saying DaDA offers would be out by the end of the week ..... ie today!!!
Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
Thank you! No, nothing yet. She has an interview for degree at GSA. She has still to hear from Bird too... they have said they won't view her videos until after her deadline date which is in a week or two's time. The waiting is hard isn't it? I find it hard and I'm not the one auditioning, lol! Hopefully we will both hear soon!anastasia79 wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 1:58 pmI’m so sorry, there’s nothing worse than an epic wait and then bad news.
