Thank you biscuitneeded, she just had an offer come through, aaahhhhh!biscuitsneeded wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2024 9:33 pm @k8t Congrats to your DD on her GSA MT Foundation offer. That's great! If it is MT she wants to do, then I'd take it. The RB offer is probably really interesting for someone who wants to do American Theatre but they're not at all the same thing, so I'd say she should think about what it is she wants to be doing, and not just about degree versus Foundation. My DS is at GSA (doing Acting but knows lots of MT degree and Foundation people) and he says the MT Foundation is really good. Lots of them have turned down degree offers elsewhere to do it. As others have said, it's still only a small number who progress from there to MT degree at GSA, but I think the hit rate for MT degrees at other good colleges is decent. They only make offers to people they think have the potential to go on to a degree so I would take it as a vote of confidence.
@Ditzi Fingers crossed for good news for your DD from GSA!

Ah congratulations!! Great news
Re: Auditioning for 2024 entry
Fabulous news @Ditzi. I’m presuming that’s GSA.
Is she going to wait for the others? I know you said she loved RB.
The relief of having a place.
@Harry2003. Wow at the offers, or few offers. DD keeps telling me it’s a 1.8% success on auditioning. Of course her plan now is to be so impressive and dedicated they can’t not offer her a BA!

Thanks K8t, yes, offer for GSA.K8t wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 5:29 pm Fabulous news @Ditzi. I’m presuming that’s GSA.

She’s waiting to see what happens with RB which is still her first choice but she would happily accept GSA if she doesn’t get in. She enjoyed her audition at GSA and likes the idea of optional additional classes which they offer. Her RB final recall is next Wednesday, hopefully they won’t take too long to decide. She’s waiting to hear if she’s through to the final round for RCS which she’s still thinking about.
She has Oxford foundation recall on Friday and East 15 foundation next Saturday. She’s decided to do the Oxford recall since it’s a workshop and she’s all set out to go with her friend and stay overnight. She might still do East15 although I don’t see the point but she sees it as a workshop which she’s already paid for.
It is such a relief to have an offer, especially as she very nearly didn’t send her self tapes because she didn’t think they were good enough!
We are celebrating this evening with a well deserved takeaway pizza and a glass of wine!
Re: Auditioning for 2024 entry
Would you believe it Italia Conti have invited her to a recall, for their new Acting MT BA!
I think she should go, but she just wants GSA, having met some IC students at auditions, she felt it wouldn’t be right for her! Goodness knows what goes through her mind!

Huge congratulations Ditzi's daughter! That's really great news.
You might remember my DS is on the Acting course at GSA, in Year 1. He's really happy with it. He did want London, but now he's there he's seeing many advantages to being at GSA, and he really rates his tutors. If I/he can answer any Qs to help with the decisions, let me know.

And congratulations @K8t's DD too on her recall! I agree with you, if it's not a huge expense for you she may as well go to the recall at IC and see what she thinks. What makes her think it wouldn't be the right place for her? It's surely worth checking it out before committing to GSA Foundation. But it also depends whether it's MT or acting she really wants. I can sympathise, as my DS was torn between both but decided to apply only for Acting. Time will tell if he made the right call!

Re: Auditioning for 2024 entry
Oh sorry, just seen it's the Acting/MT BA.... Definitely worth exploring further, if only to meet some tutors and see the facilities before deciding.
Re: Auditioning for 2024 entry
Yes I remember, I’ll bear that in mind, thank you. It’s good to know someone who’s already doing the course. Dd has a few friends at GSA but they are doing the MT course.biscuitsneeded wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 7:22 pm Huge congratulations Ditzi's daughter! That's really great news.

Re: Auditioning for 2024 entry
I agree with @biscuitneeded, she should do the recall and get a feel for the course/school, she has nothing to lose.
Re: Auditioning for 2024 entry
Congratulations to your DDs @Ditzi and @K8t

. Fabulous news! So exciting.
@K8t My DD has been offered a recall for the new Acting (MT) course at Conti also, but hasn’t got a date for it yet.

Re: Auditioning for 2024 entry
DS was the same, he had 2 friends who got places on the MT degree for the same year as him, and he already knew a couple of final year MTs, but didn't know anyone doing Acting. It's actually worked out really well socially, as he has got to know all of his coursemates and quite a few MT students too. He's been able to take an extracurricular tap class with an MT friend and have subsidised singing lessons, and of course is making contacts that may be mutually beneficial in the future.Ditzi wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 7:38 pmYes I remember, I’ll bear that in mind, thank you. Re: Auditioning for 2024 entry
That sounds like a solid plan! All the very best of luck for a great year.
Re: Auditioning for 2024 entry
No date for us either yet. Did she only hear today? I need to encourage her to go, we can maybe go over to the GSA campus and have a look at the same time too. We live in the north-west, so it’s a trek!
