@Harry2003. Wow at the offers, or few offers. DD keeps telling me it’s a 1.8% success on auditioning. Of course her plan now is to be so impressive and dedicated they can’t not offer her a BA!
That sounds like a solid plan! All the very best of luck for a great year.
Can I ask how much the extra lessons are at GSA please, DD will need to do more tap, she did a bit at her PA 6th form, but not having done it before then, it needs work!

It’s useful to know what extra costs will be and if it can go on student loan too

The loan is the same amount whatever, and the student decides what to do with it. I can't remember what DS said he paid for tap - I remember thinking it's not nothing, but it's cheaper than I pay for adult beginner tap lessons!

@K8t My DD has been offered a recall for the new Acting (MT) course at Conti also, but hasn’t got a date for it yet.
No date for us either yet. Did she only hear today? I need to encourage her to go, we can maybe go over to the GSA campus and have a look at the same time too. We live in the north-west, so it’s a trek!
No, she heard before Easter! She has chased them already for a date but they said they didn’t have one yet. It’s a bit frustrating as she has other offers and can’t really make a decision.

DD submitted her tape 2nd Feb and heard nothing until yesterday, when they emailed to say “a recall invite will be sent shortly”.

Goodness knows when that will be.

You might remember my DS is on the Acting course at GSA, in Year 1. He's really happy with it. He did want London, but now he's there he's seeing many advantages to being at GSA, and he really rates his tutors. If I/he can answer any Qs to help with the decisions, let me know.
Yes I remember, I’ll bear that in mind, thank you. It’s good to know someone who’s already doing the course. Dd has a few friends at GSA but they are doing the MT course.
DS was the same, he had 2 friends who got places on the MT degree for the same year as him, and he already knew a couple of final year MTs, but didn't know anyone doing Acting. It's actually worked out really well socially, as he has got to know all of his coursemates and quite a few MT students too. He's been able to take an extracurricular tap class with an MT friend and have subsidised singing lessons, and of course is making contacts that may be mutually beneficial in the future.
That sounds great! Just wondering how many are there on the course. I remember reading in a previous post they only accept around 20 but dd thinks it’s more than that. Not that it makes any difference, I’m just curious.

GSA were looking for 22 students for the MT degree so I assume it will be similar for the acting degree. As for costs of extra lessons, my DS did a tumbling course the first term he was there and I thought it was very cheap, can’t remember exactly but cheaper than if he were to do it outside of GSA and he’s also done stage combat which is a full 5 day course for each level (seem to think that was about £150) which for 5 full days I thought was very good.

So I was right, thanks Harry2003. Dd mentioned that stage combat isn’t taught as part of the course at GSA, but is something she’s very interested in, so she’ll definitely pursue that it she ends up going there.

Gosh that is a long wait to hear from Conti. My DD sent her tapes on 12th March and heard back after a couple of week. Hope they hurry up with a recall date.

Is she going to wait for the others? I know you said she loved RB.

The relief of having a place.

Thanks K8t, yes, offer for GSA.

She’s waiting to see what happens with RB which is still her first choice but she would happily accept GSA if she doesn’t get in. She enjoyed her audition at GSA and likes the idea of optional additional classes which they offer. Her RB final recall is next Wednesday, hopefully they won’t take too long to decide. She’s waiting to hear if she’s through to the final round for RCS which she’s still thinking about.

She has Oxford foundation recall on Friday and East 15 foundation next Saturday. She’s decided to do the Oxford recall since it’s a workshop and she’s all set out to go with her friend and stay overnight. She might still do East15 although I don’t see the point but she sees it as a workshop which she’s already paid for.

It is such a relief to have an offer, especially as she very nearly didn’t send her self tapes because she didn’t think they were good enough!

We are celebrating this evening with a well deserved takeaway pizza and a glass of wine!
Well done on the GSA offer! Impressive as they haven’t even done all their recalls yet.

My daughter was at RB final last Sat and they said decisions would be May, by the deadline of 16 May. I thought they were just doing the 4 Sats in April for finals when I was trying to work out numbers but it sounds like more if you’re there next Wed. Good luck to her

Thank you, feels good to have the pressure off.

I remember dd saying there was one more audition date at RB after hers, as far as she’s aware. It looks like they are waiting to do all auditions before deciding who to offer to. Good luck to your dd too, I’ll be so glad to see the end of it!

On GSA Acting degree (just for clarity after a lot of posts!) there are about 30 in each year group.
