Few Questions

Post by WrockDee »

I'm still new to the acting industry so need some help in these areas.

Do you need to attend drama school to join Spotlight or can you do it another way? I've only done a BTEC National and am hoping to get some more experience before tackling courses!

Where are the best places to find castings for short/student films? I've heard about StarNow and Talent Circle, but I'm still going through the wary stage of paying a fee to apply.

Any advice for this newbie would be lovely! \:D/

Hi

Talent Circle and Mandy.com are a great place to start - and they are both free :) Not sure on Spotlight - my 3 children are on there but through agents - I'm sure someone in the know will be alog soon, good luck :)

Hi there

For inclusion in Spotlight as an adult, you either need to have trained on an accredited course or to have had relevant professional experience (paid professional speaking roles)

Spotlight is really for after you have trained.

For student films, you could consider Shooting People (not sure what the annual fee is now, but it's not huge). You could also see whether Casting Call Pro would accept you (no need to pay if you are applying for unpaid jobs). You do officially need to have trained on an accredited course and/or have professional experience, but I don't think they're very strict. I've seen loads of profiles on CCP with decidedly dodgy CVs and no professional training!

Hi there! If you're under 18 (or it may even be under 21 I'm not sure) then the only way to be on spotlight is if you have an agent or are part of a performing arts school (e.g. Italia conti etc.). So sorry, a BTEC doesn't count!
