Extras Agencies for DDss and DS's

Post by charlotterose »

After being advised to look at Calex casting I got in contact with Ann Sweeting (the contact at Calex casting) to ask her a few questions. She got back to me and told me that in order to sign with Calex I must be 16+ and be out of school. I am 15 at the moment and do not plan on leaving school after GCSE as I weant to do A-levels and then (Maybe) drama school/Drama at uni.
This means I wont be free for years and after that i'll be at work all the time.

I was just wondering if anyone's DD/DS is signed to a Exras agency as well as (or not as well as ) a normal agency, and if so, which ones they are, because I was hoping to do some extra work in between jobs / at weekend or in holls ect but this isn't possible with Calex.

Thanks very much,
CharlotteRose

( +I don't live in the London area so if anyone knows of any closer to the midlands/ any that are in London but will take people from further a field then that would be great! Thanks again... :D )

I think you will find that extras agencies will only take you on if you have a LOT of flexibility & def not if you are in full time education. The only exception to this is this agency https://www.universalextras.co.uk/ which was set up especially for students (altho they take on non-students too). Not sure if you have to be London-based tho - so check the site first before applying. They do ask for a £12 one-off fee for inclusion on the data base and a photo. I think they will only take you if you are 16 too, so you may have to wait a little while.

I am with them as a non-student and have had nothing from them yet but it is early days (found other agencies a lot more useful). You do seem to have to do a lot of the leg-work yourself off jobs posted on the website, but might be of use to you soon at least.

Good luck!
And all that jazz...!

My son is with a number of extras agencies but think they are all 16+ and ask for flexibility. Most work is never confirmed one way or the other until the day before
