Model Agency for Teenage Boy

Post by JTBmum »

Hi,

It has been suggested that ds tries some modeling. He is nearly 17. However he is only 5' 9". I understand that he could do something called commercial modeling. Does anyone know anything about this or any really good agencies in London? He has an agent for acting, but they do not do modeling.

Thanks

my advice would be to walk in to the london top agencies - they all have drop in hours, friend of my dds, a boy, was taken on by Premier for commercial modelling this way - if you don't fancy waiting for one of their scouting days. A friend of my dds also did this, a girl, and went into Models1 and was asked to come back for photographs, so it can be done. Or send his headshot into KidsLondon or other reputable model agences and await feedback.

Hi,

Thanks for this,

I did call one of the top model agencies and mentioned my ds was with a London Agent, and that he had been in a few things, but that he was only 5"9". I was put through to someone who said he could arrange a meeting, but they usually did not like to go lower than 5'11". The guy said that a lot of acting agents are not happy for their clients to do modelling, or presumably to have connections with another agency. Do you know about this? Ds agent is quite old fashioned. I am wondering what is the protecol etc. I have not asked them as yet. I am also wary that modelling can be quite a hard business, what with all the body image problems it can bring.

Some Acting Agencies don't mind you also being with a model agency - With some, you just can't, because often acting agents require they're sole agency only, but you will know what your agency does from when you joined, in the small print ! Castings for modelling are often very last minute, so you have to be prepared for this, travelling to London castings after school hours. They may take your ds on for commercial modelling. Have you called the London Agent to ask if they mind your ds having an agent for commercial modelling or not,... the rewards can be very lucrative !
