To attend screening or not?
Hoping some of you more experiences NAPM-ers can help with a dilemma! DD has been invited to attend the screening tonight for the BBC series she filmed recently.. Unfortunately she is really ill with flu ... she has just about managed to drag herself through her A level drama and dance exams this week but looks and sounds terrible
Under normal circumstances she would have loved to have gone along and hopefully networked but really doesn't feel up to it and is not sure she would make a good impression on anyone in her current state. DH thinks it's a big mistake not to go ... any words of wisdom for a very confused Mum???

Re: To attend screening or not?
if she just has to turn up and not socialise too much would be a shame if she didn't go,but it wouldn't be the end of the world. The adrenaline of the moment will kick in and she may perk up ? Difficult isn't it for her if she feels groggy and has to miss out. Can she stay home for a bit before, have some medicine, sit over a saucepan of hot water and inhale some vicks, and then see if shes up to it ?

It would be such a shame for her to miss out - and she must be feeling totally dreadful to even contemplate missing it, poor girl
Can she be dosed up as much as possible, with everything you can safely give her, then just stay a couple of hours, like Genevive said she may get her adrenaline kick in to keep her going for long enough, kids eh?
I bet she is SO fed up, there are some vicious viruses doing the rounds at the moment !!
wishing her better x

Hi,
If she feels that bad it could be an ordeal. It's not the end of the world!

Re: To attend screening or not?
my dd has had flu through her practical exams and an audition recently, she just looked awful, panda eyes !! but something had to give, so off school for a day and stayed in bed to recharge really did help - I've got it now, and feel just dreadful - there is indeed a lot of this going around, practically eveyone seems to have had it, just got over it, or will soon to come a cropper with it no doubt ! varying severity ! But it is what it is, and if she really does feel ill, best to put it down to one of those things and bad timing - I can understand her wanting to be her bubbly energetic on the ball self, ...but you can't always do everything - wishing her well, and hope she feels well enough to go
Re: To attend screening or not?
She's really not good so has decided it's best not to go (and she has had a lovely e-mail from the production company saying how sorry they are she can't make it etc). She is really bad - it's a good distance to drive and she's not been able to rest properly all week because of her exams - plus don't think any of the other actors she worked with on the project would thank her for spreading her germs around
The programme is on BBC1 next week anyway ... will post a link in due course
Let's hope she recovers enough to celebrate her 18th properly on Saturday now

Bless her I hope she feels better soon

Although your dd will be disappointed not to have been there, in the greater scheme of things she'll have other opportunities and her health must always be her priority. I think she has made a very mature and sensible decision.
I hope she is feeling much better tomorrow and has a peaceful weekend with more time to get better.
