URGENT open casting calls

Post by ruby95 »

When you are applying for an open casting call that says they welcome applications from people with no acting experience, should you mention you have some experience in the application? For example when people applied for Swallows and Amazons did they mention it?

Two things

1. Yes, definitely mention your experience - if it is a serious, genuine opportunity this will not be a disadvantate in your application
2. Sometimes "welcoming people with no experience" is code for "we hope you don't have an agent and that you are naive about the industry so that we can persuade you to work for nothing or for much less than you are worth".

If it is a big open casting, I would recommend discussing it with your agent. See what they know about it - they may have a better route in to being seen by the CD.

If you have been following the S&A thread, you will see that experienced actors (with agents) were also being seen, alongside inexperienced ones.
