Best Agency for Scottish Talent

Post by Carastar »

Hi

I've been a member on the site for a while but very rarely post. My DD is 14 and I'm looking for an agent for her - does anyone know the best option for us we're based just outside Glasgow?

I've read through pages and pages on here but there's no real pointer for Scottish based talent. Can any other Scottish based families recommend an agent?

Any advice/help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Probably because we don't know ;)
I have a few Scottish friends and they are registered with northern branches of English agents, one based in Media City Salford and another in Manchester.. Maybe you need to go down that route.
It doesn't really matter where your agent is based, it's the castings you need to get to and most of those are in London, although I have seen more scattered up And down the country recently. If you are happy to travel then the agent can be based anywhere.
If you cannot travel ( sometimes a loooong way) to castings then look for opportunities at your local theatres, or with locally based film makers.
My DS used to voice-over with a lovely lad from Aberdeen I think...they were registered with a London based agency who needed children with a Scottish accent and the production company put him up in a hotel overnight ...

Just to add - 14 is a mighty difficult age for work anyway, opportunities are few and far between, and competition intense , not to put you off but to be realistic.

If you are prepared to travel for auditions, which you will most likely have too, it doesn;t really matter where your agent is based. We are in Manchetser, but DD is represented by a London agent. Casting locations always vary!

That said, I did find this which might help you track down a local agent: http://www.theatrescotland.com/Scottish ... gents.html

Good luck!

Sorry for the silence. As Riverdancefan guessed, I am clueless about the situation in Scotland. Sapphire's link looks good, or you could send your application to your preferred agents south of the border with a specific request for advice about how you might be represented, I'm sure you'll soon hear back from them if they think they could find work for you. Or they may be willing to signpost you if they have reciprocal arrangements with agents based in Scotland.

If you look through other threads, pg often gives advice about how to research agencies. You can search her posts to find it, but my advice is always to put your feet up and read through all the threads. You'll learn more about finding the right agent (and avoiding the wrong ones) that you could ever imagine.

Hope this helps
