Scream management audition

Post by Augustaray »

Hi there. I sent off my DD's details and we've received a standard response from Scream Management offering her an audition on a certain date in July whereby I imagine other children will be invited and assessed doing group work etc. I follow them on twitter and they appear to do a lot of workshops and the problem I have is that we live about 30 miles away from the audition and from where the agency is located so I cannot sign up or agree to do anything weekly as my daughter already attends a weekend stage school and does LAMDA work with a tutor. The more I look at agencies where we are (north west) a lot of them seem to have a proviso that you will attend their drama classes which I understand because when there isn't much work coming in it is a source of income but I am wondering if we are less attractive to agencies because we cannot commit to weekly classes and also because I am happy with how she is progressing with what she already does. I worry about paying out to attend agency auditions (scream charge to attend this audition) if it's a waste of time so basically I'm just checking to see if anyone has a child with them and also if they do workshops with them. Any opinions on this topic of agencies and their associated drama classes would be greatly appreciated.

many thanks

Hi, there are already a couple of threads about Scream. My DS is with them, is fairly successful (see previous posts) and has never been to their school. They were one of the few kids agencies in the North that I found that did not insist upon this. Hope this helps.

Hi Augustray
Not sure how old your DS is, but I have 2 DSs who are with scream and although it must be said, most of their work has come through NAPM / general / open castings, I think it was certainly a good move to get an agent at first, at least just to get to grips with how the industry works. Neither of my sons have been to the school, although we have considered it. If you're interesting in knowing what other workshops / organisations they're involved with (Manchester based) or any more details about Scream, then drop me a PM and I will happily share any info I have.

My DD is also with scream, we live in Birmingham so she's not in apposition to be able to attend their weekly theatre school. We do not like she misses out on anything because of this! Their contract states that they must attend at least 2 workshops a year in order for scream to update details and see how they are progressing. She was there last week funnily enough. We don't feel that living further away and therefore not attending the school is an issue. Feel free to PM me :)

Thank you for all the replies. I feel more confident now about her attending this as they do seem very professional from what you all say.
