The MTA
Hi everyone, Annemarie here, the Principal and founder of The MTA. I've only just been made aware of this forum. I noticed further down the forum that The MTA had been discussed (very favourably thank goodness) however I'm aware that we're still a relatively new college, so you probably have various queries about us and the course. So I thought that I'd make myself available on here for you all to ask me questions directly. We're currently still accepting applications for entry in Oct 2015
If you haven't come across The MTA yet - it's probably worth checking this blog out http://www.thepublicreviews.com/blog-an ... l-mta-way/ as it will give you all the information you might want on why I founded the college

Re: The MTA
Hi Annemarie, I've looked at your college and it does look very good and with a lovely ethos as well. I would love for my DS to audition next year but unfortunately I can't see how we would be able to manage it financially. Please can you advise how people manage to fund the course and the cost of living in london? I understand your reasons for staying out of expensive Drama Uk subscriptions but I presume you need that to be able to give out DADA's? I'm not sure. But anyway I can't imagine how we would be able to fund our DS coming to your college. We are not very well off you see. I would love to know how other people have managed it in case there's something we don't know about and maybe there is a way we could as well. Thank you
Re: The MTA
Yes they are still auditioning for October 2016 entry. Best audition DD attended. Full day of all disciplines. Only 18-20 at each audition and you get written feedback whether successful or not. Well worth £45! Funding is an issue as there is none available as far as I am aware but best speak to them directly. Remember it is a 2 year intensive training so you would save 1 years London living costs.

Hi michellem68 and bop2thetop
Firstly yes lbm1e14 is correct we are still auditioning - however I'd get them to send off their application sooner rather than later (although we do tend to do one late audition every year, that is literally if we still find ourselves with a place to offer, whereas at this stage there are more places on offer (obviously). RE: the funding issue, I won't lie it is really difficult. However a percentage of our students are always self funding (with no financial parental support in place at all), and between the PCDL, and various payment schemes that we work out with the successful applicant we always make is work somehow. Your child will just need to knuckle down and get a job alongside the course. We've designed it, so this is entirely possible (if a little tiring)...however if we see that they've really made an effort in Year One, we will attempt to help them in their 2nd year. However as has been pointed out, it is only for 2 years...so you'll be out earning again before you know it. To be honest - I don't think that hard work will kill them, and if anything it gives them a healthy reality check of what it's like to work on a profit share show! Do holler if you have any more questions ;-)
