Is it worth holding out hope? Thanks in advance!
My daughter was on the reserve list 2 years ago for degree at first, then was told she was higher on the diploma list. We were losing hope when the end of June came and went, was just about to give up her place and we’re told to hold on a bit longer, she was eventually offered a diploma place with DaDA mid July! It was nail biting but worth the wait. There wasn’t much movement in 2019 compared with previous years, not sure how 2020 compared.
Thanks - wow that sounds amazing. Not sure there will be much movement this year as so many applications. Thanks anyway.

DS was on the Bird reserve list for the diploma 2 years ago and was moved up to an offer in mid May. There will be movement from now until September and possibly some when Laine bothers to tell people about DaDA offers. Expect some more movement on 10th August as well if people don't get the grades - although I'm guessing that will be less this year. The list moves all the time. You could ask them where your DD is on the list and they'll give you a rough idea of top half, bottom half or middle.
Thank you - I think they will tell us where she is on list after end of June. Need to accept another place in the meantime I guess.

We decided to email & have now had a reply thanks anastasia79! DS is close to a dada but not quite there😭He is fortunate enough to have a fantastic offer of degree elsewhere so can study without the dada if no change. Don’t want this but in a way it would be easier if he was further down the reserve list as then we would put it to bed but now we’re waiting to see if there is any movement! The stress goes on🤣
I know exactly how you feel. We’re the same now, we have degree offers that are sorted but DD has gotten a diploma offer at Urdang her first choice and is now waiting on funding confirmation. When you think you’re done, it’s more waiting and stress 😂! I’ll keep fingers and toes crossed for your DS and my DD 🤞🏼
Straight back at you!🙏🏼😁

Mainly 2 bed flats but DD found flatmate on the Facebook page and they have privately rented together. It’s 2 mins from bus station but within weeks had carshares sorted. Staying year 2 as well as very happy there. Let me know if you want more details 😀

yes we tried contacting just to see (although it isn't top choice it's always good to know all options)...she said they won't tell you where until end June and then it'll keep updating all through Summer! You can accept elsewhere as they are not via ucas if wait list so it's ok.

I think there will be as we heard they only offered 25 percent actual places and the rest are reserve....so bearing in mind lots of those won't wait and will accept elsewhere I think you will be surprised. Hopefully it'll work out as not many can take the wait so it does seem a strange way to do it, but apparently they all used to do this 'back in the day'! As if it isn't stressful enough
The only offers we know of seem to be diploma too...we don't know anyone that's not on 'reserve'.

I am sure people are declining daily and the list moves up.....I also think they roughly know what 'number' usually will be end up ok so could give you a hint? Although I personally I hate the principal of the 'ranking' idea......at least the degree takes that stress away, but I feel for you with the waiting. A dada realistically isn't going to make much of a dent in any fees for us, so although it's nice to be offered it really isn't of much use although something is better than nothing. Fingers crossed you get yours.

It would make a difference to us so here’s hoping! His friend who is currently at Laine has said that there are people currently on the course that were further down the list than he is at the mo so you never know. Thanks for the support 😁

I suppose for them it makes life easier as all the offers after June will be accepted by those that definitely want them...rather than offering more out to start and then waiting to see who declines along the way etc... our friend at Bird said its usual practice there...but obviously the long wait to us seems so painful.

Make sure you still message all the landlords and ask them to let you know if anything comes available. We had this problem when dd did pre-voc at Performers (finishes this time last year), couldn’t find anything and has got to the point where we were considering a host family, something dd didn’t want as she was 18 and wanted to live College life! We were literally about to book one when a landlord rang us back and asked if we were still looking as someone had dropped out, turned out to be a lovely house too. They have pre-vocs who hang on to their house until they’ve decided whether to stay at Performers or go elsewhere (like my dd did) and students who still move around and then their room comes free so things can still come free.
Thanks, yes I have done that.....ideally though she has a friend going so two rooms are less likely than one!
TBH there were only about 40 free rooms as most listed '3 bedroom house, 2 existing students remaining...one room available etc'.....then over 150 people phoning these landlords!

My daughter is 1st year at Performers and we had similar issues last year. We found her house on Rightmove. Lots don’t take students but worth persevering. She is in 6 bed house in Basildon, £525 per month all bills included and furnished. She is staying there this year..think they have a spare room - have a look on the Facebook student page as this is where spare rooms will be advertised. Don’t worry all do find accommodation..it’s just a stressful process
